Rating: 7/10

Genre: Action, Sci-fi, Drama, Crime

The unmasked hero of Harlem City is back!

Luke Cage, after clearing his name and reputation, and taking down Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali) and Diamondback (Erik LaRay Harvey), the titular hero returns as a Harlem icon, the bulletproof skin hero.

But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Bushmaster is a Jamaican gangster hell-bent on controlling Harlem. He has a mysterious past and some serious strength that makes him a formidable opponent for Luke.

The series is quite interesting especially if you had watched season one. Luke is much stronger and more indestructible. But deep within him, he is troubled with deep anger from his past.

The boring part about the series is the long conversations filled with emotions but the actions are sweet and amazing. Bushmaster is a man to fear his thirst for vengeance shakes Harlem.

Hardcore Detective Mystique wants Miriam Stocks behind bars but has no evidence whatsoever. She struggles her way in the police department with only one arm.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp, born June 9, 1963 is an American actor, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Actor.

Depp rose to prominence on the 1980s television series 21 Jump Street, becoming a teen idol. Depp has played many characters in his career, including another fact-based one, Insp. Fred Abberline in From Hell (2001). He stole the show from screen greats such as Antonio Banderas in the finale to Robert Rodriguez’s “mariachi” trilogy, once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003). In that same year he starred in the marvelous family blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), playing a character that only the likes of Depp could pull off: the charming, conniving and roguish Capt. Jack Sparrow. The film’s enormous success has opened several doors for his career and included an Oscar nomination. He appeared as the central character in the Stephen King-based movie, Secret Window (2004); as the kind-hearted novelist James Barrie in the factually-based Finding Neverland (2004), where he co-starred with Kate Winslet; and Rochester in the British film, The Libertine (2004). Depp collaborated again with Burton in a screen adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), and later in Alice in Wonderland (2010) and Dark Shadows (2012).

Off screen, Depp has dated several female celebrities, and has been engaged to Sherilyn Fenn, Jennifer Grey, Winona Ryder and Kate Moss. He was married to Lori Anne Allison in 1983, but divorced her in 1985. Depp has two children with French singer/actress Vanessa Paradis: Lily-Rose Melody, born in 1999 and Jack, born in 2002. He married actress/producer Amber Heard in 2015.

The movie is based on a true story. In the midst of World War II, major league catcher Moe Berg (Paul Rudd) is drafted to join a new team: the Office of Strategic Services (the precursor to the CIA). At one point during his espionage career, Berg found himself under orders to assassinate German theoretical physicist Werner Heisenberg (Mark Strong) if he determined that Heisenberg and his associates were on the verge of making an atom bomb for Hitler.

Berg’s set of skill such as the ability to speak over seven languages including German gets him handpicked for the very special task by OSS chief William J. Donavan (Jeff Daniels) alongside terse intelligence officer Robert Furman (Guy Peace) and physicist Samuel Goudsmit (Paul Giamatti).

Berg did have a girlfriend, Estella Huni (Sienna Miller), though he’s in no hurry to marry her. Though through her strong sexual scenes are depicted.  A rookie teammate questions his sexual orientation, and gets beaten up for being a pest  yet the running thread of Berg being possibly a closeted gay man never leads anywhere here.

Marvel have really outdone themselves this time with the new Cloak and Dagger series. Well the series has different vibes in it and still very much different. It is a little bit of Runaways and more of Jessica Jones and a touch of The Flash in it.

It starts when two kids Tyron and Tandy are in different parts of New Orleans, they find themselves in a near death situation of almost drowning in the same ocean. At the same time a rig blows up and something happens to them while in the water. Cloak and Dagger are born!

Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) follows in her mother’s footsteps, stealing drugs and money from rich guys she picks up from clubs. While Tyron Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) on the other hand faces immense pressure from his parents after the death of his elder brother.

They are finally reunited when Tandy attempts to steal Tyrone’s wallet at a party only to have their dormant powers bond them. They both freak out, but they recognize each other from the accident years ago. She runs away while he is left flabbergasted.

Sherlock Holmes

Directed by Guy Ritchie

Rating   : 9/10

Genre    : Action, Sci-fi

Duration: 128 min

Cast   Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Robert Downey Jr.

Sherlock Gnomes from my previous review made me visit the original Holmes movies. The 2009 and the 2012 sequel.

Some movies seem to never get old! Watching them again is like watching them a fresh every time.

Detective Holmes and his ability to foresee a number of moves ahead of you. It is his greatest weapon. The smallest of clues, perhaps it is the scratch on the floor or the fiddling of your hand during an interrogation or maybe the taste of soil that tells detective Holmes about a particular crime.

His partner Watson keeps him on a tight leash so he cannot get over in his head. Certainly Mr. Holmes has queer behaviors. For one you might think he is arrogant, self-centered with no personal boundaries. A selfish bastard. That is Holmes for you. In reality he loves, cares and has his own regrets. It’s only that he never knows what to keep to himself.

Robert Downey Jr. takes the role of Sherlock while Jude Law takes the role of Watson in both films. The movie setting is around early 1890’s.

 2009 Sherlock Holmes

Produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey, Dan Lin

Detective Holmes and his Partner Watson are faced with a mystery, the resurrection of dark arts Magician Blackwood (Mark Strong) from the dead after the whole of England witnessed his hanging.

The whole country is in a frenzy of fear as mysterious ritualistic deaths occur after the resurrection of Blackwood certainly it must have been the dark arts!

But for Holmes magic has never and will never exist. It’s simply science and a game of illusion. He takes up the case to arrest the culprit and prove that magic doesn’t exist.

Sherlock Holmes has one of the best actions perhaps it’s because of the use of slow motion to show every bit of splinter, punch, bullet and flame.

The involvement of Irene Adler (Racheal Mc Adams) Sherlock’s ex fiancée and the only woman and soul who has ever outsmarted Holmes makes him take up the case.

Will Holmes be able to pin down Professor Moriarty?
